In 2019 the fifth generation reached Japan on 10 April and Australia on 8 May, with four trim levels there, while the RAV4 Hybrid went on sale in March. It was launched in Singapore, the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, and China took it on 22 November at the Guangzhou show. This was the first model year of the Toyota RAV4 (fifth generation, XA50), 2019 to 2025, which took over from the Toyota RAV4 (fourth generation, XA40); the 2020 model year follows it.
