A Sport model joined the line in March 2006, and a limited edition CV Sport appeared in Australia. A DVD based navigation system became optional for the 2006 model year on the Hybrid Limited, and the RAV4 passed the Highlander as Toyota's best selling SUV in America that year. It was model year 6 of 7 in the Toyota Highlander (first generation, XU20), 2001 to 2007, coming after the 2005 model year and before the 2007 model year.
