Introduced in Japan in September 1978, the T130 series Corona adopted a boxier design than the outgoing series. Emission regulations passed in 1978 were applied across the range, and in Japan the 2.0 liter 18R-G was offered in the range topping 2000GT, developing 135 horsepower. This was the first model year of the Toyota Corona (sixth generation, T130), 1978 to 1981, which took over from the Toyota Corona (fifth generation, T100, T110 and T120); the 1979 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Corona run from 1957 to 2001.
