In July 1999 Toyota began production of the seventh generation Celica, with sales beginning late that year. In early 1999 Toyota released pictures of the XYR concept car, and the US lineup was simplified by eliminating all coupes, leaving the GT Liftback and GT convertible. This was the first model year of the Toyota Celica (seventh generation, T230), 1999 to 2006, which took over from the Toyota Celica (sixth generation, T200); the 2000 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Celica run from 1970 to 2006.
