The XV40 went on sale in North America in March 2006 as the 2007 model with a 2.4 liter four or a 3.5 liter V6, plus the first Camry Hybrid. Extra production began at Subaru of Indiana in April 2007, and the model joined NASCAR that year, the first foreign car in the series since an MG in 1963. This was the first model year of the Toyota Camry (sixth generation, XV40), 2007 to 2011, which took over from the Toyota Camry (fifth generation, XV30); the 2008 model year follows it.
