The Toyota Harrier is a crossover SUV for five passengers, compact at first and later mid size, built by Toyota in Japan since December 1997, once sold only at Toyopet Store dealerships. In export markets it was rebadged as the Lexus RX from March 1998 to December 2008, at a time when Toyota had yet to sell the Lexus brand in Japan. The third generation, introduced in 2013, became an independent model line on a separate platform from the RX, built on the same platform as the RAV4, and from the fourth generation it is also sold as the second generation Venza in North America and China. It is named for the eastern marsh harrier, a bird of prey of Hokkaido and northern Honshu. Generations with their own pages on this site: the first generation, XU10 (1997 to 2002); the second generation, XU30 (2003 to 2012); the third generation, XU60 (2013 to 2019); the fourth generation, XU80 (2020 to 2026).
