The Mariner was Mercury's compact crossover SUV, introduced for the 2005 model year as a more upmarket sibling of the Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape and Mercury's first car based SUV. It was offered in the United States, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, gained a hybrid in 2006 and was redesigned for 2008. Production ended in October 2010 with the closing of the Mercury brand.
