In 2017 Subaru released the WRX STI S208, limited to 450 units sold only for the Japanese market. The second generation WRX was previewed by a series of concept cars branded VIZIV Performance Concept as early as 2017, and the press speculated the Viziv Performance concept shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 2017 would set the styling direction. The WRX is an all wheel drive sport compact car originally based on the Impreza created for the World Rally Championship in 1992.
