The R1 of 2009 was in its fifth year, a two door kei car on a short body and wheelbase that was marketed as a personal car. It was the base car of the experimental R1e electric car and of the Prodrive P2 concept sports car, and toy makers such as Tomica, Takara and Norev had made models of it, including a 1/56 diecast and a Choro-Q pull back. The R1 used a 658 cc Subaru EN engine. The R1 is a kei car manufactured by the Japanese carmaker Subaru.
