The Justy of 1986 was in its third year in Japan, intended to compete with Daihatsu's one litre Charade, and presented with a one litre engine. The Justy was somewhat underpowered, and was later complemented by a larger 1.2 liter engine. In many markets the Justy was only sold with four wheel drive, as with much of the Subaru lineup. The Justy is a subcompact hatchback made by Subaru since 1984. In some regions it was also marketed simply as the J series, J10 for the 1.0 liter versions and J12 for the later 1.2 liter versions.
