Early models include the 2.0i L, 2.0i Premium and 2.0XT, and production of the Subaru Forester in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations began in February 2016. In the United States the facelift was introduced in April 2016 for the 2017 model year, the fourth generation in the fourth year of its series. The X-Mode AWD control system was developed for driving on uneven or slippery road conditions. The 2.0i models offered a six speed manual or the Lineartronic CVT, while the 2.0XT used the Lineartronic CVT.
