The facelifted fourth generation Forester was revealed in October 2015 ahead of the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show. It was a compact crossover SUV in its third year and sold in Japan, North America and Europe, and in Asia models of the Forester included the 2.0i L, 2.0i Premium and 2.0XT, with Association of Southeast Asian Nations production beginning in the next year. The 2.0i models offered a six speed manual or the Lineartronic CVT, while the 2.0XT used the Lineartronic CVT.
