Subaru Forester (first generation)

Automobiles

The first generation Forester was first introduced as the Streega concept at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show and went on sale in Japan in February 1997. The United States got the car in late 1997 as a 1998 model. Its design used the Impreza platform with a taller body and a boxer engine, and the 1998 car had the 2.5 liter DOHC engine, which changed to a 2.5 liter SOHC in 1999 models. In 2000, for the 2001 model year, Subaru gave the exterior a modest facelift. Its model years run from 1997 to 2001.
