An updated model based on the fifth generation Impreza became available in 2018. In May 2018 Subaru of America announced a plug in hybrid electric version for the 2019 model year to serve as a compliance car, sold only in states that follow California emission standards. Transmission warranties of the 2013 to 2018 Crosstreks with CVT were extended to 10 years. All generations of the Crosstrek are raised versions of the Subaru Impreza hatchback.
