The XV Crosstrek was introduced in the United States for the 2013 model year, and the Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid of 2013 was a version with a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor rated 10 kilowatts and a Lineartronic CVT. Tan Chong Motor Assemblies in Malaysia started production in January 2013, with annual output of 5,000 units for Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. All generations of the Crosstrek are raised versions of the Subaru Impreza hatchback.
