The Base trim level was dropped for the 2025 model year, and the Premium, the mid level trim of the Ascent until then, became the base trim. For 2025 the Bronze Edition and Onyx Edition Touring trim levels were introduced, with improved standard equipment across the range. It was to be the flagship Subaru vehicle in North America. In terms of exterior design it was akin to a three row Outback, as the Ascent is to the Forester.
