The 1982 Camry was the first year of the nameplate as its own line. Production began at the Tsutsumi plant in March and the car was sold in Japan from 24 March as a four door notchback sedan through the Corolla Store dealers, with the 1.8 liter 1S-LU engine making 100 PS and a five speed manual gearbox. This was the first model year of the Toyota Camry (first generation, V10), 1982 to 1986, the first generation covered for the Toyota Camry; the 1983 model year follows it.
