The Phantom II replaced the New Phantom in 1929 as the third and last of the 40/50 hp models, using an improved version of the New Phantom engine in an all new chassis. The rear axle was now mounted on semi elliptical springs instead of cantilever springs, which, along with the drivetrain changes, allowed the frame to be lower than before and improved the handling. A short wheelbase chassis of 144 inches was also available.
