In March 1981, after the Silver Spirit had gone on sale, the fixed roof version of the Corniche and its Bentley sister were discontinued, leaving the convertible. The Corniche saloon had been produced since 1971. The hardtop coupe had a production run from 1971 to 1980 by the lead account, and the convertible continued on, built in London by Mulliner Park Ward. The change ended the saloon after ten years.
