The 1971 model year had a few minor changes to the Firebird, which was still available in coupe form only after the end of the convertible in 1969, and the 1971 Firebird continued the in glass radio antenna that had been mounted in the windshield since 1970. The second generation had a large C pillar until 1975, when the rear window was enlarged. The Trans Am remained the performance version of the Firebird in the second year of the generation, and the car was still sold in coupe form only, since the convertible had ended after the 1969 model year.
