For 1961 new two door sedan and hardtop models were released, but there were no changes to the four door sedan and wagon sheet metal. Interior and exterior trim were changed to give the model year a different look, and mechanical changes brought new carburetors, positive crankcase ventilation, dealer installed air conditioning and a relocated alternator. The aluminum slant six engine block entered production that year.
