A 307 cubic inch V8 of 140 horsepower was introduced in 1980, and the trim packages under the XSC name were offered in 1980 and 1981, along with choices of velour and leather upholstery. The XSC offered individual front bucket seats as opposed to the traditional split bench front seat. Also offered in these years was Oldsmobile's new diesel V8, based on the division's gasoline powered 350 V8, which was novel and economical.
