For 1990 the hood was the only carryover sheet metal as Oldsmobile designers redesigned the body, increasing the overall length by about 12 inches and enlarging the trunk, and a driver side airbag was standard equipment. For the 1989 model year the Trofeo had no longer been marketed as the Toronado, and options included the Visual Information Center, a dash mounted touchscreen CRT controlling the climate system, radio and trip computer.
