The Cutlass line was redesigned for 1973 using General Motors' new Colonnade A body platform. The new Salon package was offered first as a four door Colonnade sedan, which was joined in 1974 by a two door hardtop coupe. The Colonnade body replaced the 1968 to 1972 car, and the Cutlass remained the intermediate Oldsmobile, in the same lineup as the Supreme and the 4-4-2 trim. The 1973 car replaced the 1968 to 1972 body.
