In 1954 the Ambassador was the first American car with a fully integrated front end heating, ventilating and air conditioning system, the Weather Eye, which could now be paired with an advanced air conditioning unit from the company's Kelvinator side. A concave floating grille, new headlamp bezels and a redesigned instrument panel were the main changes. Nash Kelvinator merged with Hudson on January 14, 1954 to form American Motors, and 21,428 Ambassadors were built.
