By the 2008 model year only the 3.7 liter V6 remained available in the Raider, as the 4.7 liter V8 had been dropped. The Raider was a mid size pickup truck of Mitsubishi that was based on the Dodge Dakota and built by Chrysler, which filled the gap in the lineup since the end of the Mighty Max in 1996 and was not subject to the chicken tax, as it was built in the United States. The Raider was sent to Normal, Illinois, for installation of some Mitsubishi-specific parts and for distribution.
