In 1984 the Pajero received turbo diesel engines with higher power and torque ratings, while the long wheelbase models received standard four wheel disc brakes and four way adjustable shock absorbers. The five door, high roof long wheelbase model was introduced in May 1984 with the same powertrain options, and in Australia the NB of November 1984 had a revised grille and dropped the long wheelbase three door and the diesel engine on the short wheelbase.
