In August 1988 the Minicab received a facelift. The Minicab of 1988 was in its fifth year as the fourth generation, with the three cylinder Cyclone 3G81 engine, naturally aspirated or supercharged, and it was also sold in the United States for off road purposes only, as the Mighty Mits, with left hand drive and a 22 kW version of the 550 cc engine. The estate models featured the first sliding sunroof in their class. The Minicab was sold in Japan at a specific retail chain called Galant Shop.
