In March 1983 the Minica Ami L Turbo became the first kei car to be offered with a turbocharger, with 39 PS and glitzy graphics. It proved short lived. The Minica of 1983 was in its third year as the Ami L, with the 546 cc Vulcan II engine, and the Econo, a car intended as a private economy car but registered as a light commercial vehicle like the Daihatsu Mira and the Suzuki Alto. The Minica 55 Van was available in a few different equipment levels.
