In 1987 a three cylinder 796 cc engine with 45 PS and a five speed gearbox replaced the earlier drivetrain of the export Towny, and a three door panel van was also marketed abroad. The Minica of 1987 was in its fourth year as the fifth generation, with a turbo that had an intercooler and made 42 PS in Japan. Air conditioning finally became an option. The Minica was much more spacious inside with its tall-boy design.
