In October 2002 MMAL also displayed a Ralliart at the Sydney Motor Show, painted in the same yellow. The TJ Magna, spearheaded by the Magna VR-X and Magna wagon models, became the official vehicles of the 2002 Tour Down Under. In November 2002 a Magna Limited Edition was the final special edition model launched to boost sales of the TJ series. All wheel drive was added from 2002. The Magna was developed as a replacement for the Mitsubishi Sigma, with each generation derived from Japanese platforms re engineered for the Australian market and conditions.
