The second generation Magna of 1992 was in its second year, with the wagon arriving that year, built at the Clovelly Park plant of Mitsubishi Motors Australia on a Japanese platform re engineered for Australian conditions. The Magna and Verada became the first Australian made vehicles exported worldwide in large numbers, predominantly as the Mitsubishi Diamante. The majority of its engines, most notably the original four cylinder Astron II and later Cyclone V6 engines, were manufactured at the Lonsdale, South Australia plant.
