A station wagon and van variant introduced in 1992 was exported as the Lancer Wagon and sold in Japan as the Libero until 2003, and the previous wagon of 1985 ended in 1992. The sixth generation Lancer, with its own sheet metal on the Mirage platform, was in its second year, and the high performance Lancer Evolution I, II and III for rally homologation grew out of it. In Japan the Lancer was sold at Galant Store dealers and the Mirage at Car Plaza.
