In the All Japan Dirt Trial Championship, similar to a rally super special stage where drivers compete individually to achieve the fastest time, the Lancer Evolution has won at least one class every year since 1993. The first generation Evolution, the Evolution I, was in its second year, and upgraded in December 1993 to the Evolution II. All generations use two liter intercooled turbo inline four cylinder engines and all wheel drive systems.
