A partial improvement of October 1990 gave every Eterna side door beams as standard and raised the manual ZR-4 to 240 PS, and the two liter DOHC car, now needing premium fuel, from 145 PS to 160 PS. The hardtop of the previous generation was built until the Diamante appeared in May 1990. The SAVA got the 2.0 DOHC LX, and in December the 1.8 Exceed and 1.8 DOHC Exceed. The name Eterna is Italian for eternal. The Eterna was a sister car of the Galant, sold at the Car Plaza stores of Mitsubishi while the Galant was sold at the Galant stores.
