The Colt 1500 was put on sale in October 1965, with the KE45 1.5 liter water cooled four cylinder OHV engine that used the cylinder block of the six cylinder engine of the Debonair with a larger bore. Its basic design was shared with the 1000 but its length and wheelbase were longer and the headlamps were four round lamps. The Colt 1000 of 1965 was in its third year. The Colt 1000 line included the Colt 1100, 1200 and 1500.
