The last Sable left the Atlanta plant on 29 April 2005, and the Montego, a full size sedan, and the Milan, a mid size sedan, were launched as the replacements, the Montego for 2005 and the Milan for 2006. After the 2005 model year the model line was discontinued. The Sable of 2005 was the final car of the fourth generation and the end of the first run of the nameplate. It was the Mercury twin of the Ford Taurus and was produced at the Atlanta plant.
