For 1965 Mercury introduced a new body and chassis for its full size sedans, growing to a 123 inch wheelbase with coil springs at all four wheels, and the Park Lane continued as the top of the Mercury full size range, above the Montclair, with the standard 390 cubic inch V8. The 410 horsepower 427 V8 was dropped for 1965. The second generation Park Lane topped the Mercury line above the Monterey and the reintroduced Montclair.
