In 1985 gas charged shock absorbers were standardized for the Grand Marquis, with load leveling rear air suspension introduced as an option, and the dashboard underwent several revisions. To lower production costs the external Electronic Fuel Injection and Automatic Overdrive emblems were deleted. The St. Louis Assembly Plant ended its production of the Grand Marquis in 1985, with production moving to St. Thomas in 1986. It was built at St. Louis Assembly in Hazelwood until 1985 and then at St. Thomas Assembly in Southwold, Ontario.
