In 1959 all Mercury station wagons were combined into the Country Cruiser series, and the Commuter was its entry model beneath the Colony Park. It was still offered as a two door and a four door hardtop wagon, with the retracting rear window that Ford wagons did not have. This was the final year in which the two door Commuter was sold, because of its low sales. The Commuter was a full size Mercury station wagon. It was the lowest priced of the Mercury wagons, below the Colony Park.
