After nine years with only detail changes to the body and trim, the Colony Park received a major update alongside the Grand Marquis for 1988. From the windshield forward a more aerodynamic front end better integrated the fenders, grille, headlights and bumpers, and inside the front seats were modernized. It remained the sole full size Mercury wagon, in GS and LS trims. Eight passenger seating was standard equipment. The Colony Park was a Panther platform wagon and the flagship station wagon series of Ford Motor Company.
