A Chinese airbag recall that covered more than 680,000 Mazdas, including Mazda6 cars made between September 2008 and January 2016, reached its cutoff this year. The third generation otherwise carried on as a four door sedan or five door wagon, built in Japan, in its fourth year. Mazda's mid size car had replaced the long running Capella and 626 in 2002 and was now in its fourteenth year as a nameplate.
