The second generation ended in 2012. The last Mazda6 left the Flat Rock plant in Michigan on Friday 24 August 2012, which closed Mazda's American production and ended its twenty year joint venture with Ford, and production for North America moved back to Hofu in Japan. A few days later the third generation sedan was unveiled at the Moscow motor show on 29 August, with the wagon to follow in Paris a month afterward.
