In the minor change of April 1997 the Scrum moved from the Autozam brand back to the Mazda brand, with a 42 PS SOHC engine and a 64 PS intercooled turbocharged SOHC engine on offer. The Scrum of 1997 was in its seventh year as the second generation, a kei van and truck of Mazda that Suzuki supplied as the Every and the Carry. The Scrum was an OEM version of the Suzuki Every and Carry from the start. The front grille and bumpers of the Scrum van and wagon were the same as those of the Every, and the truck the same as the Carry.
