The Bongo of 1971 was in its sixth year of the first generation, the rear engined cabover van, truck and passenger coach. It was Mazda's small van, first introduced in May 1966 with a 782 cc engine and, from 1968, offered as the F800 and the F1000 with a 987 cc four cylinder engine. It also formed the basis for the long running Kia Bongo range. The Bongo was also known as the Ford Econovan and Eunos Cargo, and it has been built with rear, middle and front mounted engines.
