The Capella received a fairly thorough facelift in February 1974. It was the fifth year of the first generation, a rear wheel drive intermediate model between the Familia and the Luce, with four cylinder SOHC engines of 1.5 or 1.6 liters in most markets and the rotary engine in others. The facelift version reached some markets two years later, in mid 1976. The rotary engined version was sold in the United States as the RX-2.
