1972 Mazda 626

Automobiles

From 1972 all Capella models received double headlamps. The American Capella was updated and renamed for the year as the Mazda 618, with a larger 1.8 liter VB engine used only in the United States. The rotary RX-2 was assembled under contract in New Zealand from 1972 for Mazda New Zealand by Motor Industries International in Otahuhu, South Auckland, as the Capella began to be assembled in various countries. The Capella sat between the smaller Familia and the larger Luce in Mazda's range.
