The BG Familia was in its fifth and last full year in 1993. The BG was still sold, built in Hiroshima, with the 1.3 liter B3 engine of 79 PS in the base model and 1.5, 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines above it. The eighth generation BH would arrive in 1994. The Familia name means family in Latin. The Familia was also sold as the Ford Laser, Ford Meteor, and from 1991 as the Ford Escort and Mercury Tracer in North America. Mazda built the Familia at its Hiroshima plant and also assembled it from knock down kits in several countries.
