The 2016 MKZ was the fourth model year of the second generation, a mid size front or all wheel drive luxury sedan built at the Hermosillo plant in Mexico. On 18 November 2015 Lincoln presented a facelift at the Los Angeles show with a redesigned front grille and headlights, to arrive for 2017. The MKZ shared the CD4 platform with the Ford Fusion and Mondeo. The second generation MKZ shared the CD4 platform with the Ford Fusion and Mondeo.
