The Continental received a price increase for the 1999 model year to a suggested price of 38,525 dollars, the same price as the Town Car, which stayed rear wheel drive while the Continental offered front wheel drive, and a slightly smaller Lincoln LS joined them. It added seat mounted side airbags and a power increase to 275 horsepower, and could have the RESCU package with satellite positioning, similar to GM's OnStar, and a Luxury Appearance Package.
